Before you order, use this guide to check the details that matter. We do not list prices or promise specific discounts on this page. Prices and availability on Amazon change often, so check the product page for the current offer before you buy.

Decide What You Need

  • Indoor or outdoor use, and where the lights will hang.
  • Color: warm white, cool white or multicolor.
  • Style: string lights, rope lights, curtain lights or C9 bulbs. See C9 LED lights, rope lights and curtain lights.

What to Check on the Listing

  • Bulb type, such as LED or incandescent.
  • Total length and the number of bulbs.
  • Indoor or outdoor rating, and the manufacturer’s weather information.
  • Power connection, plug type and how many strands can be connected end to end.
  • Timer, remote or dimming features, if you want them.

How to Shop Smart

  • Make a short list of what you need first, and set a budget before you start browsing.
  • Compare size, capacity, materials and reviews, not only the size of a discount.
  • Check the product’s regular price history yourself if you can, and be careful with “was” prices that look unusually high.
  • Read the return policy and delivery dates, especially close to the holidays.
  • Buy from a seller you recognize, and check whether the product is sold by Amazon or by a third party.

Safety Tips

  • Follow the manufacturer’s instructions and do not exceed the connection limits.
  • Use outdoor-rated lights and cords outside.
  • Turn lights off when you leave home or go to bed.

Keep Them for Next Year
